Tu Casa, Inc. is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization providing comprehensive services to victims and children of domestic violence and sexual assault since 1979.
Position Title:
Education Outreach Coordinator
Hours and Days:
8:00 a.m- 5:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday, some evenings and some weekends as needed.
Location:
Tu Casa, Inc. Office Building, 202 Carson Avenue, Alamosa, Colorado; outreach in Alamosa, Conejos, Costilla, Mineral, Rio Grande, and Saguache counties
Reports to:
Executive Director
Key Responsibilities:
Outreach Coordination: community engagement, prevention education, collaboration with schools, law enforcement, community entities. Provide training to the criminal justice system, community professionals and the community at large. Assist Executive Director in Volunteer recruitment, training and supervision.
PROGRAM
- Maintain working relationships with representatives from all school district and agencies that work with youth
- Develop age-appropriate prevention curricula for students, faculty, staff, and parents
- Work in conjunction with the Tu Casa, Inc Staff, SANE Program, and other sexual assault prevention programs throughout Colorado to share information and resources
- Plan and conduct presentations/workshops for elementary, middle, and high school, college and community youth and adults on domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking and related topics
- Provide outreach to religious and civic organizations
- Formulate and manage program evaluation tools
- Coordinate community and client assessments to evaluate outreach and prevention methods
- Create and coordinate new and existing awareness events, i.e., Light up the Night, SAAM and CAAM events.
- Assist Executive Director in public relations and community outreach
- Create and disseminate press releases/photos
- Develop media contacts
- Create radio spots
- Create and disseminate PSAs
- Provide Executive Director with updated info. for website
- Regularly update Facebook, Instagram, and all social media.
- Ensure photos are taken at events
- Assist in dissemination of event promotional materials
- Prepare, update, and produce education packets, some brochures, PowerPoints, event materials and other printed materials
- Supervise, provide guidance for and delegate to staff and Youth Rep as appropriate when given permission by ED.
- Track activities for purposes of grant reporting in CAFÉ and other data bases.
- Supervised by the Executive Director and program directors as appropriate.
- Ensure all associated grant deliverables are me
- Provide direct advocacy services to victims and families when called upon.
TRAININGS
- Plan and provide training to community partners, religious communities, cultural communities, schools, and community trainings
DEVELOPMENT
- Assist with fundraising activities, including organizational events
- Assist Executive Director with volunteer recruitment and community engagement
OTHER
- Maintain all aspects of confidentiality
- Perform other duties as defined and requested by the Executive Director
Qualifications:
- B.A. in Human Services related field and/or two years experience in teaching, training, or public speaking
- Comfort presenting to different audiences
- Knowledge and experience in addressing domestic violence and sexual assault issues
- Strong interest in prevention education
- Strong writing skills
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with other professionals, agencies, schools, and the public.
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as a team
- Strong computer skills especially MS Office, Canva, Adobe, and other similar systems
- Valid driver’s license and car insurance
- Flexible hours, e.g. some evenings and weekends
- Ability to work with a diverse group of people
Requirements:
- Travel throughout San Luis Valley and surrounding communities required.
- Attend Crime Victims Rights and Compensation Training annually.
- Attend 15 hours of domestic violence, 30 hours of sexual assault training, and 16 hours of Child Sexual abuse training initially and then ongoing training annually as required.
