Job Description

Tu Casa, Inc. is a 501 ( c ) (3) nonprofit organization providing comprehensive services to those who have experienced domestic violence and sexual assault since 1979.

Job Description:

The Tu Casa Program Director is responsible for the Tu Casa Program day to day operations and the direct supervision of the Tu Casa Program staff and hotline volunteers. This person is also the Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) Coordinator, primary Sexual Assault Vicitm Advocate, and Hotline Coordinator. 


Reports to:  Executive Director (ED) of Tu Casa, Inc.

 

Key Responsibilities as the Tu Casa Program Director:

  • Responsible for overseeing and supervising the Tu Casa Program staff. Including ensuring that employees adhere to all policies and procedures outlined in the Tu Casa, Inc. Policy and Procedure Manual, providing monthly supervisions with Tu Casa Program staff, maintaining training records for Tu Casa Program staff, and providing disciplinary action in collaboration with the ED as necessary.
  • Responsible for supervising day to day activities of the Tu Casa Program including, but not limited to approving leave, staffing and assigning cases, tracking all data entry activities and providing guidance as needed. 
  • Works directly with and supports the ED through providing data to the ED pertinent to grant reporting, board reports, donor recruitment, and other community education needs. May also assist the ED with grant reports or duties associated with grants.
  • Coordinate and supervise the Tu Casa, Inc. 24-hour Hotline and volunteers, including providing training and support to hotline volunteers.
  • Supervise Tu Casa Program Interns.
  • Will work with ED and the Outreach Coordinator to plan and provide educational and outreach services to the community.
  •  Perform other duties as defined and requested by the Executive Director.

Key Responsibilities as the SART Coordinator:

  • Work within the community and other partnering agencies to develop and maintain collaborative relationships.
  • Coordinate, facilitate, and participate in all bi-monthly SART case reviews and regional SARTs, collaborating with law enforcement, child welfare, mental health, the District Attorney’s Office, and any other agencies/professional associated with the case for five counties. Ensure all standards are met. 
  • Enter proper documentation of client interactions in the Tu Casa Program data documentation system.
  • Coordinate interviews with SLV CAC Forensic Interviewers and partners for any sexual assault victim who has been referred to Tu Casa Program for services.
  • Provide training to agency personnel regarding sexual assault on an ongoing basis; provide outreach to both agency personnel and the community on issues regarding recognition, reporting, first responders and sexual assault prevention and education. 
  • Will coordinate with the Tu Casa, Inc. SANE program to provide all SART services to adult victims/survivors of sexual assault.
  • Maintain all aspects of confidentiality
  • Provide advocacy services to Sexual Assault survivors and their children through crisis intervention, information/referrals, networking/collaborative services, court accompaniment, law enforcement accompaniment, etc. 
  • Coordinate with the Tu Casa, Inc. Education & Outreach Coordinator regarding community presentations/training requests specific to sexual assault, Tu Casa, Inc. services, etc. 
  • Maintain client files and data necessary for statistical collection
  • Assist in meeting grant deliverables and reporting
  • Assist in maintenance and cleaning of Tu Casa, Inc. vehicles
  • Assist in stocking of client supplies and educational materials
  • Participate in all fundraising activities and assist in coordination of fundraising events
  • Perform other duties as defined and requested by the Executive Director.

Qualifications:

  • Five years’ experience working with people who have experienced domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking and human trafficking.
  • Master’s Degree preferred but not required, Bachelor’s Degree is required; degree in criminal justice, psychology, sociology, social work or related field is preferred.   
  • Demonstrates solid written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Pass a criminal history record check
  • Possess a valid Colorado driver’s license and automobile insurance
  • Are able to engage and interact with diverse age/background of individuals
  • Experience with the prevention, investigation, and treatment of domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, and stalking or related civil and criminal processes preferred.
  • Demonstrate ability to work independently while also working as a member of a team
  • Demonstrate ability to work effectively with other professionals, agencies, schools, and the public.
  • Experience in leading or supervising others while making tough decisions.
  • Organized, detail oriented, and flexible. Able to identify and respond to shifting priorities
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects
  • Excellent organizational, communication (verbal and written), and problem solving skills
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Can lift a minimum of 20 lbs.
  • Flexible hours, e.g. some evenings and weekends

Requirements:

  •  Attend an initial 15 hours of domestic violence and 30 hours of sexual assault training and attend regular trainings on an ongoing basis to remain up to date on best practices.
  •  Attend Crime Victim Rights and Compensation Training annually.
  • Travel throughout San Luis Valley and surrounding communities.
  •  Must attend leadership training; will be provided training by ED, but is actively encouraged to seek out training opportunities. 
  • Must be up to date on all new trends in regard to domestic violence, sexual assault, oppression to effectively oversee programming.
  • Must attend training on Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion.
  • Must be available for advocacy/supervision after regular business hours and on weekends on an emergency basis.
